Terms of Service
Last updated 30 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and DGT, registered office [address], Trade Register no. [J number], fiscal code (CUI) [CUI], Romania (“Blitzly”, “we”, “us”), about your use of the website at blitzly.app and the game on it (together, “the service”). By creating an account or playing, you accept them. If you don't accept them, please don't use the service.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data.
1. Who can play
- You must be at least 16 years old.
- You may have only one account, and it's for you alone: don't share it, sell it, or let anyone else play on it.
- Keep your sign-in details safe, and tell us at support@blitzly.app if you think someone else is using your account.
- While Blitzly is invite-only, only invited players can play.
2. Your account and username
- Your username is public. It must not impersonate anyone, be offensive, hateful, or sexual, contain someone else's personal data, advertise anything, or suggest that you work for Blitzly.
- You can change your username in Account settings once every 30 days. Your rating, matches, and friends stay with your account.
- We may replace a username that breaks these rules. We'll tell you why, and you'll need to choose a new one before you play again (see section 8). A username we replaced can't be used again by anyone.
- If you upload your own avatar photo, other players see it. It must be a picture you have the right to share, and the same rules apply: nothing offensive, hateful, sexual, or violent, no one else's face or personal data without their consent, and no advertising. We may delete a photo that breaks them and tell you why (see section 8).
3. The game
- Blitzly is a live trivia game. In a ranked duel, two players draft categories and answer the same questions under a timer; points depend on correct answers and speed, as shown in the game, and the result changes your rating. Your first five ranked matches are placement matches. Quick Play duels and friend matches work the same way without changing your rating; a friend match starts from a challenge link (it works once, for 30 minutes) or a challenge from a player's profile, and each player can have one challenge out at a time. Practice and the daily challenge are played alone; the daily challenge allows one attempt per day (UTC) and practice a limited number of runs per day.
- Our servers run the game: they decide when a question opens and closes, how long you took, and the score. If your connection is slow or drops, a question may time out; that counts like any other unanswered question. If you leave a duel, it may count as a forfeit.
- We may change the game (rules, scoring, categories, ratings, tiers, modes, and features) to keep it fair and fun. We may reset ratings, for example at the start of a season or when Blitzly opens to the public, and we'll announce a reset in the game beforehand.
4. Computer-controlled opponents
During periods of low player activity, matchmaking may include computer-controlled opponents to reduce queue times. These opponents use predefined game logic and may appear in match histories like other opponents.
They play by the same rules and timers as everyone else, get the same questions, can win or lose, and a match against them counts like any other. Individual opponents aren't labeled. How matchmaking works explains this in plain language.
5. Fair play
Competition only means something if everyone plays fairly. You agree not to:
- use bots, scripts, macros, extensions, or any automated means to play or answer;
- look up answers, or get help from another person or tool, while a question is open;
- play on more than one account or on someone else's, or arrange results with another player (for example, losing on purpose);
- copy, scrape, or republish our questions, or try to see questions or answers before they're shown;
- interfere with the service, test its security without our written permission, or get around rate limits, access controls, or the invite list.
We look for unfair play, for example answers given faster than anyone could read the question. A person reviews every case; nothing is decided automatically. If we find unfair play, we may cancel the affected results, reset a rating, or suspend or close the account. We'll tell you what we found and why, and you can reply before a suspension longer than 7 days, or a closure, becomes final.
6. Questions and content
- The questions, answers, explanations, game design, name, and logo belong to us or our licensors. You may play and share screenshots for personal, non-commercial use; anything else needs our written permission.
- We work to keep questions correct, but some may be wrong or out of date. You can report a question from the game. We review reports and may correct, replace, or remove a question. We don't change the results of matches already played because of a wrong question, unless we announce it.
- What you send us (question reports, messages) we may use to improve Blitzly. Don't send anything you don't have the right to share.
7. Price, payments, and ads
Blitzly is free to play. We don't sell anything and don't show ads today. If we add paid features or ads, we'll update these terms and the Privacy Policy first, show the price (with VAT) and the terms of any purchase before you buy, and never make paid features give an advantage in matches.
8. Reporting content, and how we moderate
The only content other players see from you is your username and your avatar photo if you uploaded one (and, in matches, your answers and results). To report a player (an offensive name or photo, cheating, pretending to be someone else, advertising, or anything else that breaks these terms), use Report on their profile or on a match result. For anything you believe is illegal, or to follow up, write to us or email support@blitzly.app. A person reviews every report. We don't tell the reported player who reported them; for privacy, we tell you the outcome only if you write to us about content that is illegal.
If we act against your content or account (replacing a username, deleting a photo, cancelling results, suspending or closing an account), we tell you what we did, why, and which rule it was based on, in your notifications or by email, and you can contest it by writing to us; a person reviews every reply. A suspended account can't sign in and leaves the leaderboard until the suspension is lifted. You can also turn to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body or the courts. We don't use automated moderation.
Point of contact under the EU Digital Services Act (Regulation 2022/2065, Articles 11 and 12), for authorities and for users: support@blitzly.app, in English or Romanian.
9. Availability
We work to keep Blitzly running but can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may pause it for maintenance, and we may change or stop features. If we ever close the service, we'll announce it at least 30 days ahead.
10. Ending your account
- You can delete your account at any time in your account settings. The Privacy Policy explains what happens to your data; your past matches stay in your opponents' histories under a replaced name.
- We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, as described in sections 5 and 8. Unless the law or someone's safety prevents it, we'll tell you why.
11. Liability
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for harm caused intentionally or through gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or any right you have as a consumer that the law doesn't allow a contract to limit.
- Otherwise, the free service is provided as it is, and we're not liable for lost ratings, results, or progress, or for indirect losses.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when we add a feature or the law changes. For changes that matter to you, we'll tell you in the game or by email at least 30 days before they apply; if you don't agree, you can delete your account before then. Small changes, such as fixing typos, apply when published.
13. Law and disputes
- These terms are governed by Romanian law. If you're a consumer living in another EU country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of that country.
- If something goes wrong, please contact us first at support@blitzly.app; we'll try to solve it.
- You can also turn to the Romanian National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC, anpc.ro), which includes an alternative dispute resolution service, or to the competent courts, including those where you live.
